Kermi: Day Three (elevation 2690M / 8825FT)

On our second day, we continued ambling through terraced fields of young wheat and barley and followed the course of the Karnali River upstream:

From here, Chloe (my fellow water baby) and I snuck off further down the trail for a dip in the Karnali.  It was my first of the trip and lead to many more on our way up to its source.  It was freezing but absolute heaven.  Unfortunately we don’t have any shots of us giggling and jumping around in our undies in the bright turquoise swimming hole we found; we tried to be somewhat covert.  I wish we had at least a few from this particular spot, it was magical.  Lots of smooth rocks and bright sun to warm us as we watched the Karnali rush by.

After our dip, we passed under some steep waterfalls and up a pathway that has been carved and built into a cliff side.  These photo don’t capture the angle or drop.  You wouldn’t want to be stuck on this ledge while pack animals are passing through.  Very vertigo inducing:
